- I designed and built a modern, clean redesign in Next.js and Tailwind CSS — a warm botanical palette of cream, sage, blush, and gold, with custom hand-drawn SVG floral accents in place of stock photography.

The brief
A florist that's been family-owned since 1997 has something most businesses would kill for: a real story. The redesign of flowersbyrachelle.net needed to carry that — weddings, sympathy work, and everyday arrangements for Chico and the North Valley — in a site that feels as considered as the arrangements themselves.
What was built
Five pages, each with a clear job. The home page moves through a hero, shop-by-occasion, a weddings spotlight, the family story, testimonials, and the delivery area. Weddings gets its own page covering florals and the planning process, because wedding clients research differently than someone ordering a birthday bouquet. Sympathy and funeral flowers get a dedicated page with the tone that subject deserves. About tells the story; contact carries info, hours, the delivery area, a map, and a message form.
The visual direction is the deliberate choice here. Instead of the interchangeable stock photography that makes every florist site look like every other florist site, I drew custom SVG floral accents by hand and built the design around them, set against a warm botanical palette — cream, sage, blush, and gold. The result is a site that could only belong to this shop.
Under the hood
Next.js with the App Router, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS 4, with lucide-react for iconography. The SVG accents are inline vectors, not image files — they scale to any screen, weigh almost nothing, and take styling from the same palette tokens as the rest of the site. Robots handling is wired in at the app level, and the whole thing deploys as a standard Next.js build with zero special configuration.
Where it stands
Live on Vercel. Pushes to the connected branch build and deploy automatically, so content updates ship the moment they're committed. The structure is straightforward enough that seasonal updates — a Valentine's push, a Mother's Day feature — are small, fast edits rather than projects.
